Hello,
For some time now, I've had tiny white insects about 1/4 mm in size wandering on my desktop screen or coming out from between the keys of my laptop.
I've found little information online, so I did some research and I’m sharing the solution here for anyone who might be curious.
These insects are Tyrophagus putrescentiae
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrophagus_putrescentiae
In English, they are called "mould mites."
These are large mites that feed on mould (which is a nightmare for mycology labs) and are a feast for spiders.
They need mould to survive and their lifecycle is about 3 weeks.
So, they require regular humidity levels of 85% for the mould to survive.
This mite can trigger skin and respiratory allergies.
In dry air, they disappear in 3 weeks, as they die in the absence of mould.
The insect takes refuge in computers because they are often infested with mould; in fact, the fans attract the spores.
And the warm temperature promotes the growth of mould as well as insects.
They are often found in computer screens, which are warm and poorly ventilated.
To clean a mouldy wall, a good mixture of vinegar (alcoholic) + Saint Marc laundry detergent with rinsing in white vinegar + drying with a hairdryer works well.
In any case, definitely no water and you need to dry quickly afterward.
You will then need a hygrometer and a dehumidifier to ensure the air is adequately dried.
