Hello,
My MagSafe charger has given out (like many if we believe this: http://www.apple.com/fr-business/shop/reviews/MA538F/B/apple-magsafe-60w-power-adapter-for-macbook), so I bought a "fake," meaning a no-name one a few months ago.
I know: it's bad!
Well, everything was fine until these last few days, when I noticed that the connector (I don’t really know what it’s called, the thing that makes contact with my Mac) is overheating, especially if it's plugged in while I'm using the computer (it’s less of an issue if I charge with the computer not in use/closed).
It freaks me out; I'm afraid I'm going to fry my Mac.
Would you recommend I go buy a genuine MagSafe with the apple logo on it?
(ugh, €89 still!)
Thanks for your advice.
Configuration: Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8) / Chrome 49.0.2623.112

Hello,
If the charger overheats... it can be unhealthy and damage the connectors, yes.
"Pirate" chargers always carry this risk: you pay less, but you don't know what you'll get... sometimes with chargers that explode.
