Hello,
I own an Acer E5-411 whose touchpad is no longer working.
Here’s how it happened:
- My hard drive broke down.
- I replaced it with a new, blank hard drive.
- I reinstalled Windows 8.1 x64.
- I then downloaded the drivers from the Acer website ([https://www.acer.com/ac/fr/FR/content/drivers and from my serial number. Only the Chipset driver failed to install, according to the message displayed, my PC does not have sufficient configuration...
- Everything is working except for the touchpad. I am therefore using a wireless mouse.
I have tested the following solutions:
- fn + f7 key
- restarting the PC on AC power without the battery.
- disassembling the PC to check that the touchpad cable was properly connected.
- in Device Manager, I only see one ''HID mouse''. It seems to be my wireless mouse because when I unplug it, ''HID mouse'' disappears. Moreover, the automatic driver search indicates that it is up to date.
- still from Device Manager, I also proceeded as follows: HID mouse > right-click > uninstall > unplugging my wireless mouse > restarting. No result. No touchpad, and as soon as I reconnect my wireless mouse, it works instantly, and ''HID mouse'' reappears.
Thank you in advance for your help!!
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 53.0.2785.116
