Hello,
I am trying to recover a deleted encrypted disk image by mistake. I installed Photorec on the advice of an internet user via "comment ça marche." When I launch the software, I receive the message "cannot execute binary file." I wonder if it is simply because I am using a recent version of the software while my operating system is old (Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger), basically a compatibility issue.
If that's the case, do you know where I can find the same software in an older version?
And if it's not that, what could be the cause?
Thank you.

Hello,
it could just as well be, not that the system is too old, but the type of Mac. There are 2 versions of PhotoRec, one for current Macs, and another for Macs with PowerPC processors, the generation of Macs before Intel processors (until mid-2005). So if this Mac has a PowerPC processor, it will display the indicated message if an attempt is made to run a version intended for Intel processors.
The PowerPC version can be found here:

good luck.
