Hello,
A few days ago, I made a mistake while turning on my PC. Instead of pressing the normal button to turn it on, I pressed the small button next to it.
I don't know what it actually does... maybe some sort of reset?! :s :s The small button has an arrow indicating "refresh".
Since the PC did not turn on and I immediately realized my mistake, I pressed the button. The PC turned on, and once on the desktop, a blue window appeared. The name of the window was Windows Powershell, but the screen had no writing inside and it only lasted for a second or two.
Doubting, I turned it off normally. I waited a few moments and turned the PC back on with the normal button.
Since then, every time I turn it on, the same thing happens. Once I'm on the desktop and it's fully powered up, I get the Windows Powershell window, with the blue screen (still with no writing inside). It only stays for 2 seconds and automatically disappears.
I wonder if I have any issue or if I should just ignore it every day?
Thanks in advance :) have a nice day!
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 47.0

It's true that we rarely stay behind our PC when it starts up..
Since you’re on W10, a rather silly thing, but in the task manager
tab startup
what programs do you have launching.?
All Zalman cases have a Reset button, so it’s this famous button that you pressed.
If it was bought ready-made, the Reset button allows for a factory reset; my mother simply has a Zalman case (the PC I built for her), she also has the Reset, but it’s inoperative since there’s no recovery.
And to check another point, you’re going to do this
click on
File Explorer
your local disk
users
your name (so Elise)
appdata (this should be a hidden file)
roaming
microsoft
windows
start menu
programs
startup
and let us know if there’s anything there.
In theory, it should be empty, but it doesn't hurt to check ;)
So to show hidden files, go to your
file explorer
view
show hidden files and folders
This operation should be done before going into the folders mentioned above.

hello.
well, you have your answer.
why does powershell launch at startup on the pc.
if it is in the startup tab of the task manager, don't look any further ;)
you can disable it, it doesn't need to be there.
and if you have ccleaner, we can also disable it from there, and remove the entry to prevent it from coming back, since sometimes it tends to return for no real reason.
for your codec, I would leave it if I were you.
VLC and VirtualDub don't use the same ones, so for the moment, your codec is useful for resizing your videos.
and it's just a codec, it doesn't take up space, and it doesn't cost anything..

Hello,
I would like to know more about this PowerShell window at startup. Have you noticed any significant changes on your computer since this window started loading?

Hi,
It could be a fileless malware, otherwise a system issue.
To check:
Follow the FRST tutorial. ( take the time to read carefully - everything is well explained ).
Download and run the FRST scan, 3 FRST reports will be generated:
Send these 3 reports to the website http://pjjoint.malekal.com/ and reply here with the 3 pjjoint links leading to the reports so we can review them.
Please press any key to continue the disinfection...

hello.
If your problem started since you pressed the wrong button, then it's a system issue.
It's normal for PowerShell to have a blue screen with no text in it.
Is that so-called button the onekey? Is your PC a Lenovo?
If yes, that onekey allows you to reset the PC to how it was the day you took it out of the box.
So, factory reset.
And generally turning it off abruptly, PCs do not appreciate that.
Even if you probably turned it off before it started.
Give us the exact brand and model of the PC, that will clarify things ;)

It's the Xvid update, for sure.
HKU\S-1-5-21-617058447-1705595387-1607890824-1001\...\Run: [Xvid] => powershell.exe -nologo -WindowStyle hidden -Noninteractive -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File C:\Program Files (x86)\Xvid\CheckUpdate.ps1
You can remove it from startup by:
Press Windows + R
type taskmgr.exe and OK.
Startup tab, disable it.
Otherwise uninstall Xvid Video Codec
VLC has its own codecs, not really necessary.

Thank you! Nothing serious then, phew.
In the task manager, Startup tab, I have the following:
avast! Antivirus
Realtek HD Audio Manager
Microsoft OneNote Quick Launcher
Windows PowerShell (2)
By the way, for the latter, there is a small arrow on the left that the others don't have.
All four are indicated as Enabled.
I will do your two actions (Darkleopard and Malekal) as soon as I have more time :) I wouldn't want to make a mistake by rushing.
Thinking about it, I recently downloaded and installed Audacity, but that's not recent, so it doesn't correspond to the arrival of PowerShell.
I use VirtualDub to resize videos (very rarely), and that's why I think I needed the Xvid Video Codec.
Is it risky if I uninstall it? I don't do it with VLC for that matter.
Have a good day.

Good evening,
Since I disabled it, the Powershell window hasn't come back at all ^^
Should I, as a precaution, do the manipulations you told me about Darkleopard or is there no need anymore?
Thank you :) have a good evening.

hello.
as long as the software is disabled from the task manager at startup, you’ll be good ;)
the steps for Ccleaner, you mean??
if that's it, yes you can, but if you don't know how to do it, just let us know, we’ll guide you, even to take screenshots so we can see more clearly ^^

Hello,
Thank you very much for your responses, I feel less alone.
I really think it corresponds to the day I pressed the wrong button, yes ^^ but I admit that sometimes I turn it on without staying next to it.
I don't know if it's the onekey :s there is nothing written, just below that button the little arrow that spins on itself (it's the same kind of arrow as for refreshing a page, for example).
It's a Zalman tower. Brand new from last September.
Uh, I hope I'm not responding too poorly ^^
No changes to note.
For FRST, here is the report:
