Livebox WAN Port

Question

Hello everyone,

I have a Netgear N300 wireless modem router. Its ADSL port is connected to my phone socket and it does its job as a router very well... The only problem is that it doesn't have a port to plug in a landline phone. As an Orange subscriber, I have a “Livebox Play PNP Recy” device. I thought great, it has a WAN port, I'll connect it to my Netgear router and then I can have my landline phone... But nothing works, even when setting the subnet mask of the Netgear's DHCP to 0.0.0.0, it doesn't sync with my Livebox... And it's impossible to access my Livebox's interface if it is not synced...

Two important points:

1. I don’t want my Livebox to be the main modem
2. I tried connecting the RJ45 coming from my Netgear to an Ethernet port of the Livebox; it works very well as a router but doesn’t enable my landline phone to work...

I hope I've been clear enough for you... Let me know if you need more details...

Anyway, does anyone have a solution to get my landline phone working (preferably not too expensive or even free...)? Thank you all in advance.

Hello,  the only way to make the internet telephony work with an Orange offer is to use a Livebox.  Best regards

Hello,

The "WAN" port of the Livebox is primarily for a "fiber" connection; I'm not sure if another type of connection can reach it.

Then, in the second case, it becomes an "AP" or Access Point, or even a "switch," but it does not serve the purpose we need it for.

For the phone to work on it, the Livebox must absolutely be configured with Orange to obtain the telephone line parameters... Otherwise, there is no active line. Since it is not the "modem," it cannot retrieve information about the line it should manage from Orange.

We should check with Orange support to see if it is possible to get the configuration to set up a VoIP phone or another type on a personal box or a VoIP gateway, but I highly doubt (very) strongly that they provide this type of information, as their support is *normally* only valid when using a Livebox.

Hi,
why don’t you want to use the Livebox modem? It’s stupid to put another one in its place; you can see the unnecessary complications this brings you.
If you prefer the Netgear Wi-Fi, you can use it as a simple access point behind your bosque:

Indeed, it is impossible to access the Livebox Play interface if it is not synchronized.
