Hello, I would like to know if we can modify the Asus ROG G20. It is equipped with a GTX 970 and an Intel Core i7 6700 processor. Since the case is small, I'm not sure if I can modify it too much. I would like to add an SSD: internal or external? And if I change the graphics card, will I be able to upgrade to the GTX 1080?

No problem replacing a GTX 1080 FE for a 970 in your Asus Rog G20, I did it and there are no issues to report, all games run on ultra without a hitch and don’t worry, there are no problems with the power supply, as it consumes less than a 970.

Oh yes, indeed, I skimmed over your first message :P
The GTX 1080 is recent, we need to check the rest of your setup.
Exact model of your motherboard, in particular.
Do you know how many watts your power supply has?!
Generally, for an i7 and a good GTX, 550w is the minimum recommended.
As for the cooling system, there's no need to change it, or just change the heatsink if necessary (since the stock ones from Intel can sometimes be limiting).

It's not a laptop, though. But if I change the power supply and the cooling system, is it possible to change the GPU?

I don't know how much the power supply or the motherboard are. I think it's an MSI but that won't be enough for you. The exact model of the PC:

Look at this one for example.
For €520, you have a good GPU.
Read the comments to be convinced ;)
But that's just a personal opinion of course.

So for your motherboard, it should be an Asus H170 Pro, but I'm not sure.
The best way is to use the CPU-Z software, we'll find out more.
In any case, you have three SATA ports so you can install three hard drives and/or SSDs.

I'll take a closer look at it when I get home, I'm on my phone right now, so it's not practical.
However, why a GTX 1080??
It's still recent and expensive, and not that powerful.
If you go for an overclocked GTX 980 Ti, you'll be very close (about 20%) to the performance of the 1080.
And for less money, I think you can find a 980 Ti at a good price, especially with the sales, on sites like Top Achat, for instance.
That's the route I would personally take.

hello.
For the change of the GTX, forget your project, it's impossible...
The power supply and the entire cooling system of the PC are designed to work from its initial configuration.
But for the SSD, you can put it in place of your HDD.
You probably have like me, two hard drive slots in the PC (very common on high-end laptops).
But you can also remove your Blu-ray DVD drive and put your hard drive in a caddy.
That’s currently my project.
Two SSDs in the original slots.
And the HDD in the caddy in place of the DVD drive.

I also want to upgrade my Asus ROG G20AJ originally equipped with a GTX 970 to a 1070 and also increase the RAM. I'm very interested in your response because I see that you were able to modify your G20 in both areas without any issues. By the way, I sent you a private message so you can tell me more ;)
