How to activate the built-in WiFi on my Acer Aspire 1640z laptop  Thank you in advance for any response!  NdambaConfiguration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.6

Go to Device Manager in the system, then Network Adapter "PRO/Wireless 2200BG Intel Network Connection," right-click properties then advanced, change the Value from disable to Enable and ok, it should work, as it worked for me. Good luck.

dans Démarrer, fais un clic sur Exécuter
tape services.msc puis OK
dans le menu déroulant, clique sur Configuration automatique sans fil
dans l'onglet Général, le statut du service doit être Arrêté
clique sur Démarrer et normalement il se grise et là tu cliques OK
normalement, le Wi-Fi doit être démarré si ton adaptateur est correctement installé

Hello.
The button to activate the WIFI on Aspire 1640z is located at the front, just to the left of the three round connectors for audio (headphones; mic; audio input). It's a transparent plastic button. When activated, a message appears in green at the bottom of the screen: "Wireless LAN activated."

As Marcounet rightly says, the button is located at the front of the PC, it's a more or less rectangular button that lights up when you press it. To its left, there is exactly the same button that is used to activate Bluetooth if you have a device of that kind installed.

Listen, it wasn't working for me either, but then I succeeded. So go to "menu," type "acer" where it says "search," then check all the options, click on "acer empowering technology," then click on the small "globe" and you will see the Wi-Fi options.
