    Hello;
I too suffered from this problem for a week, I have an Acer Aspire 9410Z laptop.

Before proposing the solution I found, be aware that laptops are well protected and the solutions you find online are only intended for desktop PCs.

Beware of the following solutions (ineffective, very risky, and a waste of time):
    - Removing the battery from the laptop for a certain period.
    - Searching for a jumper next to the CMOS circuit (you won't find a jumper in laptops).
    - Using software to erase the password (laptops are equipped with an EEPROM BIOS).
    - Putting the laptop in the freezer!!!!!..... it's true, you can find this kind of thing online.

The procedure to use (successfully tested on Acer Aspire 9410Z) (at your own risk)

1-- Turn off your laptop and unplug the charger (not the battery).
2-- Remove the keyboard from your laptop using a flat screwdriver....(be careful of the cable underneath).
3-- Disconnect the cable from the motherboard.
4-- Now you will find a small black box with micro switches (small numbered switches).
5-- Move switch number 1 up.
6-- Reconnect the keyboard cable without putting the keyboard back in place.
7-- Start the computer and press F2, you should normally enter the setup without any problems.
8-- In the security menu, disable the use of the password, to have the state "clear"
    9-- Save and exit
    10-- Turn off your PC.
11-- Reset switch 1 to its initial state (move it down).
12-- Put the keyboard back in place.

And there you go, mission accomplished.

      Hi Yassine
I tried your method on an ACER ASPIRE 9410 and I did find the black box with the micro-switches, except that... the box was partially covered by a metal plate (impossible to move) which only allowed access to switches 3 and 4.
      Did you encounter this issue?

Does anyone know of a utility that can be placed on a bootable CD to perform a reset of a Phoenix BIOS?

Thank you for this miracle solution.
It worked on my Acer Aspire 9420 with switch number 1 located under the keyboard.
They are bold at Acer to charge €100 to move a switch!
