Hello,
I need to install a Canon PIXMA MG 3250 printer on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system.
I found out how to do it at this address:
https://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=11525.0
Prior to that, I tried to install libtiff4, but the terminal returns this message:
"No version of the libtiff4 package is available, but it exists in the database. This generally means that the package is missing, has become obsolete, or is only available from another source."
I tried installing libtiff4-dev, then I downloaded the necessary packages for the PIXMA installation, etc.; but the terminal tells me that Libtiff4 is not installed.
OK, I understand, Libtiff4 is not LIbtiff4-dev...
I tried to find libtiff4 for ubuntu14.04, but the only link I find (http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/t/tiff3/libtiff4_3.9.7-2ubuntu1_i386.deb) is a broken link...
Would you know how I can install this package?
Thank you in advance, and have a nice Sunday!

Hello jns55,
thank you for your reply.
I had already checked this page, but the solution is to switch to an earlier version of Ubuntu to get Libtiff4, which I wanted to avoid.
By delving deeper into your response, I came across this page:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2220935
I downloaded a package from a certain "michael gruz":
https://launchpad.net/~michael-gruz/+archive/ubuntu/canon-trunk
I then installed the cnijfilter obtained with Synaptic.
Otherwise, he suggests another solution: to install Ubuntu 13.10 in 14.04, to recover libtiff4, etc. But he wonders if it might conflict with another program.
In short, Libtiff4 is not mandatory to install a Canon printer on Ubuntu 14.04.
Have a nice day everyone!
