Question

Hello,
I am a victim of text messages (SMS) being sent to the mobile phone of an acquaintance. These texts are obviously meant to harm me. The strangest part is that my mobile number appears on the recipient's phone as if the message was sent from my phone. Is it technically possible to do this? If so, how do they manage it? Now I need to prove to the recipient that these messages do not come from me!!! Thank you in advance for your valuable help.

I don't think this has anything to do with a virus or SIM cloning or anything like that worthy of secret services ;-) but rather someone sending texts from the internet, which allows them to use whatever number they want. Kind of like anonymous emails. Simple as pie.

With the phones/computers they have now, viruses are going to become very common. Then the phone network, like the Internet, will be messed up, and each infected machine will be one more chance of infection for others. Come on, keep using phones/cameras/camcorders/TVs/GPS/SD card readers/internet-connected devices/...

Now that I've complained :) I suggest you leave your phone turned off for a few days (preferably with no battery), to see if the problem is more serious or if it’s just a "simple virus." In the first case, you need to contact your provider as soon as possible.

Because for my part, I sold a mobile phone and I no longer remembered that I had activated the security mode "mobile tracking." Let me explain:

It's an option that allows you to send a text message to selected people in your contacts containing the phone's serial numbers or other details.

So for my part, I sold the phone, and every time the buyer of my phone sent a text message or, even worse, called someone, it sent a text message to my wife and my mother-in-law :-) Not very funny when it's at 2 a.m.

To disable this option, the seller of the phone must insert their own SIM card and deactivate the option.

The most likely scenario is that a virus is sending these messages without your knowledge; the best way to find out would be to use another mobile device and see if the problem persists, or keep an eye on your bill to see if there are any charges that you did not make yourself.

I also had this kind of problem a few days ago... I received a text supposedly from my boyfriend's phone, but he was right next to me, and the server number started with +447................, invalid on our phones, so it was sent by who knows who on the internet (well, we know who actually, but anyway...) this person pretended that my boyfriend wanted to send this text to some hypothetical girl and accidentally sent it to me.... luckily he wasn't working that day and the person who wants to mess with us couldn't have guessed that.... too bad... nice try! There are people who apparently have nothing better to do than trying to ruin others' lives....

Well, I understand, the same thing happened to me. I eventually discovered that there are three methods.

The first is to go through the operator on your internet portal if the person knows your code.

The second is that there are websites where you can register and input the details you want with the number you want (if you want to pretend to be someone else), and the person pays with their card, and that's it—they can send messages pretending to be someone else (I sent myself messages as a test, and it worked; my number showed up). And the

third: you really have to be good at computer science—it's downloading hacking software that allows you to hack the operator's server using any number for free. A friend working at Bouygues showed me that it was possible.

After to prove it, I even took screenshots, printed them out, I went to file a complaint, but my complaint didn't go anywhere because they wanted to see the messages on the phone (i.e., my ex's phone), but he, not believing me at all, didn't want to hear from me anymore... So what I was really missing were the messages he was supposedly receiving from me...

In most cases, as I've read, it is clear that these are ill-intentioned individuals who have hacked things on the operator's side, posing as someone else via a computer and messaging sites.

My problem is quite different.
I enabled "read receipts" on my phone, so every SMS I send, I receive a receipt back with "delivered [contact name]" or "in progress [contact name]".
However, for the past few days, I have been continuously receiving receipts for messages sent to a contact.

At first, I thought it was an issue of an unlocked keyboard and the phone in my pocket sending everything to the first contact, but I took measures: I created a fake first contact, I turned off my phone or I leave it on my desk whenever I can.

The receipts keep coming. When I turn my phone back on, I have to wait a few seconds to receive six or seven receipts in progress. When I was watching a movie and my phone was placed elsewhere, after the movie, there were about ten read receipts.
My ex first contact, who has become my second contact, still receives the texts.

I don't know how to act to make this stop: in my daily life, I am completely dependent on my phone. I need it to contact people, be reachable, it serves as my alarm and organizer (both in terms of schedule and for calling certain people I need to coordinate with).

For now, my friend just thinks that I keep my phone in my pocket with the keyboard unlocked, and that it's carelessness. I deduce therefore that no insulting, obscene, or harmful messages have reached him.

It is by gathering all the details of my issue that I have come to the conclusion that it is neither hacking per se nor a problem of an unlocked keyboard, but indeed a virus problem.

If anyone has any information on this topic, I would be happy to hear it.

I will revisit this subject on occasion.

Another point may seem insignificant but still. There are Bluetooth software programs where, when you connect a Bluetooth phone to another, you can access the directory, dial the other person's phone, and even send texts from the hacked mobile.

It's quite simple. The person is using your number through your operator's internet portal. All they needed was to have your secret code required to access the internet portal, and they go to the SMS service and send it via the web. Since they enter your phone number and your secret code, your number appears when the SMS recipient receives it. It's as simple as that.
