Hello everyone
here is the message I get when starting my computer, a HP 15 r 228 nf/W8.1
Checking media (Fail)
- my HDD is recognized in the BIOS
- HDD diagnostic ok
- my HDD works on another PC, but not on my PC
I bought the W8.1 reinstallation CDs from the HP website, but it says that the PC is locked
anyway, it's a mess. What to do? for your information, this HDD is not the original one, the original one kept showing a repair attempt for hours without doing anything, and in the BIOS it was showing a diagnostic failure, so I assumed it was dead.

Hello, create a bootable USB drive for Windows reinstall, that should work or put in a system restore CD that you boot at startup or else, format via the recovery console

I'm going to try with a key, but I don't understand why it's not working with the HP recovery DVDs.

The restoration DVDs may no longer work if the operating system has been updated, for example, if it is running Windows 7 and the original was Windows XP, it won't work.
