Portable computer bug "checking media"

I don't know if someone can help me, but here it is: my sister has an HP BeatsAudio laptop running Windows 8, and I don't know what happened, but apparently, it stopped turning on overnight.
The screen stays black and shows
"checking media_"
then
"selected boot image did not Authenticate. Press <Enter> to continue."
but when you press enter, it turns off :/
Does anyone have any idea? Thanks ^^

I specify now that it's a Windows 8.1 (sorry).
