Good evening everyone,
I hope I'm asking this question in the right section and I’ve tried to find the answer through various searches in other topics, but I can't seem to solve the problem on my own...
I recently got a Numéricable CastleNet CBV38Z4 modem. In fact, it's the modem used in the student residence where I am, and I did not subscribe to this provider myself.
In order to perform the installation, I can access the "configure your modem" menu by typing http://192.168.0.1 in the search bar. I normally gain access to the menu with the various settings. So far, so good.
In the "Network" section (first menu), the following text appears:
IP Address ---.---.---.---
Lease Duration J: -- H: -- M: -- S: --
Lease expiring on --- -- -- ---- --:--:--
Subnet mask 0.0.0.0
Default gateway 0.0.0.0
The DNS section is also devoid of information, although I checked "obtain DNS server addresses automatically." Is this normal?
However, my Ethernet cable is detected, Wi-Fi is also accessible (my mobile phone can connect to it, the password works, the symbol appears but no internet). Basically, after resetting to factory settings, everything seems identical to what it should be according to the Numéricable site, but the internet does not work...
On the modem, the GigaEthernet connection light is blinking orange (apparently that means it’s a FastEthernet connection so that seems normal). The "downstream/upstream channels synchronization" light is green but blinking, which apparently indicates it’s searching for a signal.
How can I stabilize this search and get Internet?
When I ask Windows 10 Home Edition to fix the problem, it tells me there is a missing network protocol. I’ve come across quite a few forums but none have managed to solve the problem... I thought the problem might be stemming from here but testing with a MacBook presents the same issue, so I don't think it's due to Windows.
I hope I’ve provided enough detailed information, and that someone will kindly help me in my endeavor :).

Your modem is not connecting to the Numericable network, you won't have internet. Is your TV socket connected to the cable? To find out, plug in a TV; if you get the MCS channel, your property is cabled. If not, an intervention is needed in the technical shaft on the landing: unplug your cable from the aerial network and plug it into the Numericable socket. If it still doesn't connect, it may be that your installation is not up to standard: faulty cable or non-compliant socket.

Good evening decdec2010!
First of all, thank you for your help. I don't have a TV outlet since I don't have a TV at home (small student room hehe). However, the Numéricable network is available throughout the residence and there are some rooms -without TV- where it works!! So I don’t understand...
Do you think the problem could be due to certain settings?
