Hello,

I just bought a new Terra 3000 Celeron PC and it runs on Windows 10.

When I open Task Manager, "Defender" seems to be running.

However, I have to click on the Defender shortcut for the icon to finally appear.

I uninstalled "McAfee" using a utility from their site and there seems to be no trace of the program left, not even in the registry.

If you know a procedure to restore Defender, please help me.

Configuration: Windows 10 / Firefox 43.0

Hello.
If you install an antivirus, Win Defender is automatically disabled.
But in my Task Manager, Defender doesn't appear either.
It is hidden under the System tab.

@Tribun: Thank you for your response. Mine is hidden under "antimalware executable service."

But I haven't installed any other antivirus.

My problem is that it does not appear in the notification area near the clock, even though it is indeed enabled in the display options.

Me neither, I don't have it in the notification area.
Go to the Control Panel and click on Win Defender, an icon will be visible in the taskbar, click on it and > Pin to the taskbar.

I've already done all that. I had to create a shortcut on the desktop. And when I click on it, the icon appears in the notification area. But I would like it to be there automatically so that I don't risk being vulnerable in case I'm connected with Defender inactive.

Apparently it's normal. My seller told me that Defender runs in the background and the icon doesn't appear as long as you don't interact with the program. Sorry for the unnecessary hassle, and thank you for your responses!

But Windows 10 is not like other systems.
And Win Defender is often updated automatically in Win 10.
