Debian Résolution Variable probleme !!!

Bonjour,

J'ai une Debian d'installer sur mon ordinateur depuis quelques temps. Tout s'est bien passé lors de l'installation aucun soucis tout fonctionné. Et puis un beau jour, pafff j'allume mon pc et je tombe sur une résolution 640*480 et impossible de la changer. Oui vous allez me dire regarde il y a deja des forums qui en parle. Sauf que j'ai a peu pret tout tout essayer et j'ai ce probleme.

Le reel probleme c'est que c'est trés variable, un coup j'allume mon ordi et je tombe sur une bonne résolution, je rédémarre, un coup j'allume et je tombe sur une résolution 640*480. Quand il démarre sur une faible résolution bin je vais me coucher j'attends le lendemain et la il démarre bien en 1280.
J'ai bidouillé pas mal de truc (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) jusqu'a planté mon X du coup j'ai remis une sauvegarde de mon x.org.conf..
S'il vous plait aider moi car je vais peter un plomb, linux est mon outil de travail et j'ai mis debian car je voulais quelques choses de stable et ça ne l'ai pas du tout. J'ai besoin d'une résolution CONSTANTE en 1280 !!!
J'ai essayé d'installer des drivers ATI mais c'est super dur avec une résolution comme ça d'installer, il est installé mais je sais pas comment le lancer !!

Remarque : j'ai pas ce probleme sous Windows Vista
Matériel : P4E 2.8 Prescott, 9800pro IceQ, 1Go Ram.
OS Linux Debian (derniere version), Gnome
