Hello,
I have a PC with USB 3.0 ports and my printer uses a USB 2.0 cable.
It is detected "without problem" by my computer, but when I want to print, nothing happens. I ran the troubleshooter and this message appeared:
"-USB printing support is an older USB device that cannot operate on 3.0
-Try connecting the device to a USB 2.0 port, then click Next."
I tried to find a USB 3.0 cable for the printer, but the "male" connector is still different from what I currently have.
In short... Can I change settings so that my computer’s USB ports adapt, or do I need to change my printer?
Thank you.

Hello,
You cannot transform a USB 3 port into USB 2, but the standard allows for backward compatibility. USB 2 and even USB devices work on USB 3 ports; the transfer speed simply corresponds to the device's standard.
I think it’s more of a driver issue because at the same time you switched USB ports, you likely changed your OS version.
I therefore suggest you look for the printer driver for W10 (or at least for W7 or 8), if the manufacturer has provided one. Some fail to update their drivers.
You need to install the driver (it’s just an .exe file that you click on), with the printer turned off or disconnected from the PC, and then when the installer prompts you, reconnect or turn on the printer.
Best regards.
