Stereo Mix is not working

Hello,

My Stereo Mix hasn't been working for quite some time now, but I can't really tell if I've accidentally changed something I shouldn't have. It cannot record any sound at all; when I select Stereo Mix in Audacity, start a recording, and play a video, nothing is detected or recorded.

However, at first glance, there doesn't seem to be any issue. When I access the Recording options by right-clicking on the Speaker icon, all disabled and disconnected devices are visible, and Stereo Mix is enabled. I don't understand what the problem is, so I'm providing the complete configuration:
__
GENERAL
Stereo Mix
Controller information: Realtek High Definition Audio
Connector information: • (large solid black circle, which I don't know the purpose of)

Device usage: Use this device (enabled)

__
LISTEN
Listen to this device (unchecked)
Play through this device: Default playback device (I also tried with the device of my headset and the default one on my computer)

Power management
• Continue running while on batteries
__

LEVELS
Stereo mix (this may be where the problems are, even though I've tried several values)
50

__
ENHANCEMENTS
Disable all sound effects (checked)

__
ADVANCED STATISTICS
Default format: 2 channel, 16 bits =, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
Exclusive mode: Give priority to applications in exclusive mode (unchecked)

Resetting the default settings has been tested, with no success.

Thank you in advance, hoping you can help me. Its absence is quite troublesome for me; for example, I can't share music for a project on Skype.

Have a good evening.

Best regards.

At my place, the "Stereo Mix" was also enabled but it wasn't working (the volume meter stayed flat) and nothing was being recorded in Audacity.

In fact, it was just necessary to plug a jack into the audio output of the PC (at the back audio connector panel of the computer). It works even if the other end of the jack cable is not connected to the speakers (you can't hear anything, but it still records) for those who, like me, have their speakers connected to a USB audio interface (e.g., external sound card Focusrite Scarlett 2i2).

You also need to remember to enable "Speakers" in the "Playback" tab (it won't work with the external sound card) and enable "Stereo Mix" in the "Recording" tab and uncheck "Listen to this device" in the properties of Stereo Mix, otherwise it produces an echo/delay effect.
