Can I mix different brands of RAM together?

Hello,

I want to upgrade my PC which currently has 2x4GB RAM to 16GB
Considering that the current ones are two years old, should I buy the same ones or newer ones?
Will it be compatible?
Thank you.

    Good evening,

Of course, it is possible to install RAM from different brands in a computer! :)

You just need to make sure that the new RAM sticks have a frequency at least equal to that of the already installed sticks. Because the sticks will operate at the frequency of the stick with the lowest frequency.

And of course, make sure you use sticks of the same standard (DDR3, presumably, since they are two years old).

    Have a good evening,
