Hi everyone, I recently bought a new PC: it works well, except for a lack of smoothness with both heavy video games (like COD AW) and lighter ones (COD MW2).
Here’s the configuration of my PC:
-RAM memory: 8 GB (7.89 usable)
-Graphics card: nvidia GTX 960M (2 GB dedicated)
-Processor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz-3.6 GHz turbo
-Hard drive: SSD (128 GB) + hard drive (1 TB)
-Resolution: 1920*1080
-Screen: 17.3 inches
-Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 bit
-Model of the PC: ASUS ROG portable G741 JW-T7154H
The problem is as follows: none of my games run smoothly, there are like drops in FPS or frame stuttering.

It's normal with a "minimum" graphics card for gaming: you need to lower the display quality and/or the resolution. You can use the NVIDIA configuration tool for that; it's quite effective for low-end setups.
Then, of course, you should play with the laptop plugged in to activate the dedicated graphics card or modify the power management settings.

you can install afterburner, you should be able to monitor the CPU and GPU load during the game to see who is struggling.
