Hi everyone, I recently bought a new PC: it works well, except for a lack of smoothness with both heavy video games (like COD AW) and lighter ones (COD MW2).
Here’s the configuration of my PC:
-RAM memory: 8 GB (7.89 usable)
-Graphics card: nvidia GTX 960M (2 GB dedicated)
-Processor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz-3.6 GHz turbo
-Hard drive: SSD (128 GB) + hard drive (1 TB)
-Resolution: 1920*1080
-Screen: 17.3 inches
-Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 bit
-Model of the PC: ASUS ROG portable G741 JW-T7154H

The problem is as follows: none of my games run smoothly, there are like drops in FPS or frame stuttering.

It's normal with a "minimum" graphics card for gaming: you need to lower the display quality and/or the resolution. You can use the NVIDIA configuration tool for that; it's quite effective for low-end setups.
Then, of course, you should play with the laptop plugged in to activate the dedicated graphics card or modify the power management settings.

It's already done. However, the graphics card is powerful enough to run COD MW2 on ultra, and yet it also has this problem. Considering that my old PC had 4 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 560 M graphics card, and it had no issues running this game on ultra.

in ultra AND 1080p ?
you can install afterburner, you should be able to monitor the CPU and GPU load during the game to see who is struggling.

You can enable the display and recording of the CPU and GPU frequency while you play, as it will help identify where the issue lies.
