Hello, I have a problem with my Compaq CQ58, well, my brother gave it to me saying that I just needed to change the hard drive, which I did because the computer wasn't detecting it and therefore wouldn't turn on.
So I changed the hard drive for one from Western Digital. But still nothing, it might even be worse, the PC shows me "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I thought I needed to create a system image, which I did using my other computer, but the Compaq doesn't want to know anything.
I've done my research but I can't find anything in forums, please help me.

Hi,
you can check in the BIOS if the hard drive is detected properly.
Since it's new and apparently blank, you need to reinstall Windows (or Linux), which requires an installation DVD or a USB key with the files to install it.

In the Main menu, your hard drive's name should normally appear in a Hard Drive or Drive field; if not, you can check the boot menu to see if you can select it in Boot Device Priority.
For the Windows DVD, you can start by asking your brother if he has a recovery DVD.
Otherwise, it's possible to download them from the Microsoft site, but you need a valid license key; you should have a sticker on the laptop indicating the version of Windows and its key.
If that's not the case, it's encoded in the BIOS, and you would need to contact HP/Compaq to retrieve the key or order a recovery DVD from them. -

All BIOS are different, but it should look like this:
In the image, you can see that the guy has a Western Digital (WDC) hard drive on his SATA 2 port, so you need to find something similar that corresponds to the brand of your hard drive.
If it only says Not detected or None, it means it's not detected.. -
I only have this in my BIOS
