Unable to read DVD (CD ok) - Compaq C500

Hello,
I would like to completely reformat my hard drive (due to multiple and severe infections) and I had successfully burned my recovery DVD right after purchasing my Compaq Presario C500.
My problem is that the DVD drive detects something to read, but it doesn't start and makes a recurring noise. It doesn't show that there is a DVD in the drive. I could read this DVD on another computer and I have already used it to reinstall my computer before.
So, I am unable to start an uninstallation from the DVD. I tried reading an audio CD and that works....
Can someone please help me???
