Unsupported signal on TV

Hello,
I connected my PC to a Toshiba TV, there are no problems except when I launch a game, it says unsupported signal format and the screen stays black while the game sound works fine. I connected it using the VGA port; could the VGA port be the cause of the problem?

    Hello.

    That's completely normal.
    In fact, the output resolution (which is to say the format in a way) of the game is higher than that of the TV.

    What you need to know is, what is the resolution of your TV?

      I have the same problem, but it's with my PS3. When I connect it to the TV, it says unsupported, and my TV is a Toshiba Regza 32CV515DG.
