Disable network scanning?

Hello, sorry if I'm posting again: I searched and couldn't find the solution.
I have a wifi problem with my new PC on Vista, and thanks to previous posts, I think it's because of Windows' periodic scanning.
I found out how to disable it on XP, but I have no idea what to disable to stop this crippling lag in games.

Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.4

Indeed, by default network scanning is enabled. To disable it, here’s how to proceed:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > right-click on "Command Prompt" then "Run as administrator"

Then enter the command:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wireless Network Connection"

There you go :)

PS: "enabled=yes" to reactivate it.

This solution is not the same as disabling the Windows wireless auto-configuration service?
Control Panel => Administrative Tools => Services => Wireless Auto-Configuration Service => Disable.

(under Windows XP)

Because I had this problem, I resigned myself to doing nothing for a long time and after searching a bit more, I found this solution with a friend. I'm convinced there is an option in Windows to only disable the periodic scanning of nearby Wi-Fi networks.

But I've been looking and can't find any other solution anywhere.

=> You have to be careful though, because if no program takes over the connection management instead of Windows, there may be problems connecting afterwards xD

Hello,
I saw your response to disable the network scan, but I have XP Pro and I can't do it. I'm still experiencing lag in the game...

I had the same issue under seven: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wireless Network Connection"

and it's all good after that ;)

I found the solution. Since the netsh wlan command doesn't work, I went through the registry (start -> run -> regedit).

From there, search for the string (F3) "WLAN-AutoConfig". For all occurrences, set Enabled or Flags to 0.

It works without rebooting!

Please share this post on all forums that need it!!!!!!

I replaced all the values for Enabled or Flags with 0 and it still doesn't work! Are you sure your technique works??
