Hello,
I hope you can help me because I'm having a little trouble with my laptop...
So, my computer is showing a blue screen with a giant smiley and the message "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart," along with the error code: Kernel data inpage error. Then it shuts down and restarts. This has been happening for a few days and it's really annoying. I tried to fix the problem by finding a topic that explained where the error might be coming from, so I followed the instructions which said: "In Windows 8, open the Windows search and type ‘cmd’. Right-click on the command prompt and select ‘Run as administrator’. Provide administrator authentication. Type the command: CHKDSK C: /F /R"
So I did that, and I restarted. The problem is that it’s stuck at 11% and it’s been at least an hour!
So first, is this normal?
And then how do I cancel the operation? Because every time it stops "analyzing and repairing the drive," it restarts its analysis and gets stuck at 11%...
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me.
Sincerely

Hello
let it finish, even if it takes a long time.
It will remain "stuck" in the same place, but it should go quickly afterward...
The chkdsk will fix any potential errors...

see if there are any SMART error reports.
We would need a whocrashed report to identify the source of the crash.
Otherwise, we are a bit in the dark.
