Invalid email address????

Hello everyone,
For the past few weeks, whenever I try to sign up on websites (no matter which: I’ve tried Showroom privé, Groupon, a guitar lesson site...), I fill out the registration form with my Yahoo email address (which I've had for several years), and the sites consistently respond that my "email address is not valid." How can this be possible? I use this email account daily, and I've never had a problem accessing my inbox. So usually, I provide another email address (on gmail) and, as if by magic, it works!
Have you ever had this kind of issue?
