WORD is slow!

Hello,

I have been using a very recent ASUS laptop with an Intel Core i7 and Windows 8.1 for about a month.
I have noticed that for a while now, Word occasionally lags; everything feels “offset.”
- Slow typing and deleting of words, it doesn’t delete instantly
- The copy/paste button, when I use it with my mouse, takes a while to respond, the copy/paste action is slow
- When I want to attach a file to an email, the window takes time to appear and the file takes time to open. Sometimes, I have to click the "open" button several times for the file to insert.

Otherwise, no issues with internet browsing.

Thank you.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 41.0.2272.89

Hello,

you can start by testing Word in safe mode:
hold the CTRL key and launch Word.
If everything works better, it means there's an add-in that is causing issues or there's a problem with the Normal.dotm template.
For the add-in: check under the File tab, Options, Add-ins (on the left), "Word Add-ins" at the bottom in the "Manage" dropdown, then click the "Go..." button.
Disable or remove the one that seems questionable according to your needs.

For the Normal.dotm template: rename it if you want to keep a copy or delete it to force Word to create a brand new one.

Good evening,

Thank you for the response, I launched Word while holding CTRL, is it normal that the menu (with the blank doc templates, calendar, CV, etc.) does not appear?
That said, I still did what you asked.
It seems to me that Word is a bit sluggish even in safe mode; it takes between 2 and 5 seconds to open when I click on the tabs.
I have "Normal" as the document template, nothing in global templates and documents.

I believe I found the problem.

The solution would be to check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" in the File tab, Options, then Advanced Options.
Since the box has been checked, opening Word 2013, switching tabs, copy/paste actions, inserting files, etc. seem to be done smoothly.

In any case, thank you again for responding.
