Hello,
this morning I had a slight issue. I was working on a server when a fit of coughing hit me, and while my hand was on the mouse, I accidentally clicked on a file. After that infamous fit, I noticed that a folder disappeared.
Of course, given the number of files available, I didn't have time to see the name of the folder, but I didn’t receive any message regarding a deletion.
In your opinion, is my file just moved or could it have been deleted without any message appearing, or even without the progress bar that sometimes shows up when a move or copy happens?
I checked my recycle bin, and there were no deleted files from today. After that, I didn't have time to dig deeper on another date, and since I won't be working again for a few days, I won't be able to do it right away.
In case of a move, where could it be?
Is there another way to find it? I'm really worried about not being able to find it, that would be very serious.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
You say you were working on a server: directly on it, or on your own workstation but in a directory on a remote server?
If it was on a remote server and you deleted something, it should be in the server's Recycle Bin, not yours.
Otherwise, it is quite possible that your unintentional action moved a file to another folder: if it was a small file, the operation being very quick, it may have happened without a progress bar.
In that case, since you don't know its name, you will only find it the day you need it and when it's not in its normal place => a search will help you know where it is. ;-)

Be patient: I have a 10-hour time difference...

Hello,
I was working from my position on a file located on a shared server that is connected to 5 computers.
All the folders that we have are filled with a lot of files so in the end they are quite heavy, that's why I'm surprised I didn't have a scroll bar.
It happened so quickly that I didn't have time to see the name, it's really a stupid situation. I'll be working tomorrow so I'll do some longer searches. Anyway, it can't be too far away, hoping that it hasn't been deleted but I think I would have received a message if that were the case.
In any case, thank you for your help.

Hello, yes, so that's what I was saying: if it's deleted, it's in the server's trash, which you probably don't have access to? In that case, you would need to ask the admin to check its contents.
This could also explain why there was no scrollbar.
Have you ever intentionally deleted a folder or a file before? If not, you can just create a test one, just to see if you'll get a message when you delete it. ;-)
