Hello,
I'm looking for a solution to format messages in Word or another tool (like InDesign if necessary) to make them look like SMS.

I could create a custom image in Photoshop, but I have an astronomical amount of messages. I need a more functional solution, a module or...

Here's the appearance I want to give to the messages, nothing too complicated but still not that easy.

Hello,

You can easily do this with Word or PowerPoint depending on your final objective (printing, screen display, etc.).

In the Insert tab, Shapes, Speech Bubbles and Captions, you will find an approximate bubble. You can enter your text inside.
In the "Format" tab under the "Drawing Tools" tab, you will find the "Shape Effects" to shadow or give depth to the bubbles and the text wrapping options (for Word) so you can place them as you wish.

Thank you Claire, I have about 40 A4 pages of texts that I would like to format to print a book.
I know the drawing tools, geometric shapes, speech bubbles, etc., but adjusting the shapes is tedious on a large number, and it’s only enlargements of the initial shape that cause problems when the scaling factor is too significant.
I’m really looking for a cleaner method like the image above...

You had suggested Word yourself and you didn’t mention that you were aware of its bubbles and that you didn't want to use them...
That said, I don't understand what you don't find "clean" in this method.
What you display in your message can be achieved in Word or PowerPoint with automatic text adjustment to the shape size.

As for the bubble itself, if you really want the same one as the one you're presenting, you can draw it in a vector software like Illustrator, convert it to WMF format, and you can then use it as one of the shapes in Word/PowerPoint (text, special effects).

But go through InDesign if you think it's cleaner, and if another participant doesn’t have an alternative to propose to you.

I focused on the bubbles, but your question may also concern the associated captions (date and time automatic, especially for the "Read").
