HP multifunction broken glass

Hello,

HP Photosmart 2710 multifunction printer

During a move, the glass (the surface for documents to be scanned) was broken (cracked). Apparently, HP does not replace or sell these glasses.

Three questions:
- Is there a replacement solution for this glass?
- Is it possible to replace this glass by oneself?
- Does the glass need to have specific technical characteristics, or is an ordinary glass sufficient?

Thank you.

Sincerely
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.4

Hello,

I just received a response notice to the question I asked at the end of 2007...

And I realize that 5 responses have occurred. However, I have not received, until today, Friday, November 4, 2011, any notice from the site "comment ça marche."
Well, it doesn't seem to be working too well then!

Regarding the broken glass of the printer:

- it has been replaced.

- the manufacturer does not provide this spare part.

- the technical services of computer retailers are not interested in this repair: they emphasize that given the price of a printer now, it would be more economical for me to buy a new one!

- I bought a cut piece of glass at a DIY store (9 euros, which is even more economical than a new printer). But it needs to be anti-glare glass, like the kind used for art frames.

A friend, who is a technician and handyman, put it back in place for me. He told me that I could have done it myself, but I don't have his experience in taking apart plastic casings of computer devices.

Good repair.

Best regards.

Thank you very much for your feedback and advice, which will help me to fix my daughter's printer myself ????.

9 euros indeed ???? less expensive than a new printer.

Not to mention this whole throwaway culture organized by the brands themselves ????
