Hello, I confirm the truth about microfiber cloths, and a few drops of cold water make the LCD screen look like new.
Thank you, Alib.-
Hello, if it helps, I found some on http://www.e-fidelite.net/search.php?q=nettoyage+ecran

Just take an old cotton cloth like a handkerchief, dish towel, or washcloth (without lint) and dampen it. AFTER TURNING OFF YOUR SCREEN, gently wipe it back and forth, repeating the process several times. Let it dry; the screen will be as good as new FOR NOT A PENNY AND WITHOUT DAMAGE.

I confirm the effectiveness of this recipe: water (distilled if possible) + soft cloth + do not rub like a brute!!!
This gives a clean screen (this recipe is also excellent for a TV screen)
And since I smoke good British tobacco... the "grime" is impressive... once deposited on the cloth!!!!
Some products (I had experienced at least one, recommended by my bookseller/stationer, etc. "this is what we use"... a powerful sales argument!!) may seem to clean, but also have the unpleasant drawback of spreading the grime, hence the famous streaks we talk about here that persist joyfully.
Thank you and good... viewing! -

Hi Alib,
Honestly, thank you! I was stressing out cleaning my screens with super expensive and ineffective wipes; they left even more streaks than before. Thanks to your tip, it's perfect—just a washcloth and cold water, gently cleaning without pressing hard, and my screens (TV and PC) look brand new again. Thanks again and well done! -

Hello, yes a LCD, I created a little presentation about it: (but it annoys me I can't find it in the database! I had edited it fortunately:
CLEANING YOUR FLAT SCREEN
There's no need to use sprays or gels sold in stores.
They could instead damage your flat screen over time rather than clean it. To do this:
- use an old cotton cloth, clean and lint-free
- moisten it with cold water
- wipe it back and forth on your flat screen
- repeat the operation several times if necessary
- let it dry.
Your screen is now like new!
WARNING: PERFORM THE OPERATION WITH THE SCREEN AND PC TURNED OFF. -
As you wish, but some screens MUST NOT be cleaned with water, as clearly stated in the manufacturer's notice (like Philips). Some coatings that have an anti-reflective effect do not withstand overly watery solutions. Gels, although water-based, help ensure the result. If in doubt, ask the customer service of your Boulanger, Darty, or Fnac, not about the products they sell, but about the feedback from customers on flat screens damaged by a nice little piece of cloth with water...

Hi, it was actually a bakery seller who gave me the tip when I bought my first LCD screen about 7 years ago. What's crazy is to see what's suggested on other forums, like: you spray with window cleaner and tape! Why not use a pressure washer too, right! I've been using this method since and never had any problems.
Which coatings with anti-glare effect, what coatings are you talking about? Maybe plasma screens?

Hello everyone
I keep reading your advice but I have doubts
You say a non-pilling cotton cloth
but most cloths naturally shed fluff, right?
Otherwise, I understand that you shouldn't rub but rather dab, although removing fingerprints, for example, without rubbing seems time-consuming to me
So should it be more lukewarm water than hot or cold??
I should specify that it's a portable Compaq 15.3 inch flat screen
Thank you for your answers-
Hello,
the first time it was a bakery salesman where I bought my first flat screen who showed it to me.
There was only the demo screen left, I asked for a discount and since it was expensive... "no problem," he replied, and came back with a damp cloth that he applied to the screen; a few minutes later it was clean.
I tried it without any problem with an old washcloth and an old tissue, always with cold water.
Non-linting, I mean to avoid things like chamois or static cloths that would leave marks, and if that happens, it can be fixed with an old "non-linting" cloth... there you go....
It's confirmed, for now no one has messed up their screen yet. -
Thank you ALB
What bothers me is that the technique of not rubbing seems difficult
in the sense that I don't see how to avoid rubbing to remove ingrained fingerprints, for example
How do we remove stubborn marks by only tapping the screen
such is my concern
I do not question the explanations of some internet users, but personally I do not dare use anything other than a simple tissue
And finally, can you confirm that it requires warm or cool or cold water for more effectiveness??
one internet user even mentions demineralized water
maybe it is less corrosive indeed
thank you and happy holidays -

For me, I simply take a microfiber cloth, I create steam on the screen, then I wipe it. I do this several times and my screen is perfect and scratch-free (Be careful with the types of cloth, I specifically mention microfiber).

Personally, I just used a microfiber cloth + hot water, being careful, on my plasma screen, and it turned out great.
My screen was slightly dirty (thanks to the cat who puts its paws on the screen as soon as it moves a bit...) and I was looking for a product in the supermarkets.
Before buying, I tested it on a small corner of the screen, it was fine, so I applied it to the whole screen, and it's perfect. -
Happy to see that my tip works and can be helpful, I recently got an LCD TV, I tried the same method this weekend, it worked perfectly too!

Yes, because my man wanted to clean the keyboard with the vacuum cleaner and one of the keys, the key " " has disappeared. No more " " ! I had to go look for it in the dusty bag that I ripped open.
Clever, isn't it?
Instead, I suggest using a compressed air can at maximum power to blow the dust out of the keyboard; there is less risk of ending up disabled.... -
-
You should have removed the "H" from "homme" too; that would have been more credible, lol ;)
Now everyone knows your story about the key being sucked up by the vacuum is fake, even though your joke was pretty funny...!! Next time, proofread yourself well, lolll

Thank you for the solution, Alib. I tried it on my Samsung SyncMaster, and I didn't expect such a sharp result!
Thanks again!

Hello,
I was also a bit afraid of the cloth and water. I looked at my Sony manual and here's what it says
To remove dust from the case or the surface of the LCD screen,
gently wipe with a soft cloth. In case of stubborn dirt,
rub with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a diluted mild detergent solution. Never use any abrasive sponge, alkaline/acid cleaning agent, scouring powder, or volatile solvent, whether it's
alcohol, gasoline, thinner, or insecticide. Using
these products or prolonged contact with rubber or vinyl materials can damage the screen's surface.
When it says "diluted mild thinner," I think of hand dishwashing liquid?? -

I spilled Bolognese sauce on my screen after a random fight!
I solved the problem with a white bath towel and warm water... even a good, dried-up Bolognese with onions can be easily fixed with this method!
PS: Avoid Bolognese on the screen

Hello, I also confirm the method.
I have a 17'' LCD flat screen (model "LG Flatron L1730S").
I followed these steps:
1) Turn off the screen
2) Clean with a tissue slightly dampened with water, doing it gently
3) Wait at least 10 minutes for it to dry completely, ensuring there's no moisture left
4) Turn the screen back on
Result: the screen is perfect (no stains, no flickering) exactly like new. -
Hi
I cleaned my screen with a slightly damp washcloth and it cleans really well. Thanks for the advice. -
Sure, nothing beats wiping the screen with a damp cloth and then drying it with a lint-free microfiber cloth ;p.
