Hello,
Here's my problem: when I launch and play Cossacks: Back to War, there are black bars on the sides of my screen. I bought it via Steam, my computer has Windows 8.1.

I went to options --> video options --> resolution
But I can't change the resolution.

Have you checked in the Settings -> Display (or equivalent) of the game, for example to change the resolution from 1200 * 800 (or I can't remember how much)? -

I think you can't change anything then, I had the same issue with Age of Empires II. Maybe you can do one last test, right-click on your desktop, click on graphics properties, find display (or equivalent) and change it, validate and then launch the game. Remember the initial value unless you want to restore the default settings. Maybe it will work, but it will also change everything (not just the game resolution) so as soon as you quit the game, you'll have to revert to the initial settings if it bothers you too much.

I haven't been able to try it yet because my computer is in repair due to a broken key on the keyboard.
