Good evening everyone
I just got back the PS2 from a friend because it wasn't working very well. As an anecdote, the PS2 was damaged, we assume, by a surge that occurred during a storm.
The fact is that the PS2 "works": it turns on, we hear the startup melody, but there is no picture appearing or it is discontinuous and very dim. I haven’t had the chance to test a game to "hear" if it runs on it.
From my experience, I deduced that the video card might have burned out.

I just want to ask if this conclusion seems good to you, or if you have another one...
I also want to know if there is a way to repair it (not too expensively or at home) and how. And if the PS2 is really dead, if we can't get anything out of it before throwing it away

I look forward to your informed and enlightening responses
Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 1.5.0.12

Thank you for the site, it looks pretty good, I just took a quick look.
But in that case, I need to take apart my PS2. I've already tried and I couldn't open it, it got stuck at the vertical base of the console.
Plus, I'm not even sure if that's the only thing or even if it's the video card that needs to be changed, and lastly, I haven't come across any on the site you mentioned.

Hi, well if you have this problem, I can give you a site where they sell PS2 spare parts for not too expensive. When I broke my PS2, I got spare parts from this site; it’s very good. The site is https://www.foxchip.com/

P.S.: your conclusion seems logical to me.

    Good evening, Ghazi
I don’t know this problem, and I don’t think I can help you much. But I think you could give more info or even find the solution to the problem yourself.
Here’s how to proceed. You don’t know if it’s your cable, your TV, or your console that is “bugging.” So try to replace one of the components and see if it works or not. For example, change the screen. If you don't have two TVs, go to a friend’s place. For the TV, ask a friend to bring their PS2 or test it with another console.
For the cable, do the same, you can borrow one from a friend for a test and return it to him.
If you already know where the problem is, you will be better positioned to resolve it.
As for the red screen, I can't quite see where it could come from. Personally, I think it’s from the console, but that’s just my opinion.

    I hope I’ve helped you
