Fancy start msi? + update issue

Hello,

I have a big problem regarding an update proposed by Windows Update for my PC,
it insists that I perform an important update while for me it is optional,

despite my attempts to avoid this update, it always occurs at startup of my PC and ends in failure with the following message:
"Asus Fancy Start: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package fancy start.msi"

This considerably slows down my PC and I feel like a virus is trying to bother me, can you please help me?

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 39.0.2171.71

A laptop hardly lasts 5 years.

Has anyone had the same problem???
Every time I start up it's the same, it launches an installation that fails and always gives me the same message mentioned above?
Even with a restore, nothing works and it's seriously starting to bother me...

Hello, I'm experiencing exactly the same thing. When I start my Asus laptop, which is about 5 years old, an ASUS FancyStart installation window opens (the problem started a few days ago). Clicking "OK" leads to a problem, -folder not found-. I went into the BIOS to disable FancyStart, but that didn’t change anything. I tried to repair the folder, but the same issue persists, it doesn't work. Moreover, a friend who also has an ASUS has just encountered this problem too!

If anyone knows what's going on with Asus at the moment, I'm all ears :)

EDIT: I found the folder in quarantine with AVAST. I restored it and then uninstalled the entire FancyStart folder. Problem solved, sort of, but resolved!

Hello, I encountered the same problem as you with the Windows update.
I tried many things and here's what worked for me:

- identify your version of fancystart (for me 1.0.8 on Windows 7 32-bit)
- go to the Asus website, in support type "fancystart" and click on the "drivers" tab
- download the fancystart that corresponds to yours
- then in downloads, run fancystart, it will offer you repair or remove.
- click on repair and finish (remove caused the same problem as at startup)
- and there you go ;-)

I hope I helped you all

EDIT: Sorry, but I didn't see your EDIT (that’s why you have to read posts in full...)

Hello,
indeed my PC is about 5 years old too and I've wanted to tear my hair out trying to finish this update,
I'll try the Avast solution and if that doesn't work I'll look for the driver unless I come across a Japanese site -_-

Hello,
@Lilyana
I tried your method, I'm relieved that the update no longer turns on,
@guigoule
there are still some optional updates, some of which require a restart,
is it necessary to do them, or can we remove these suggestions that don't interest me?

Hello, I had exactly the same problem as you,
I downloaded the appropriate driver from the Asus website (1.0.8 for me) and the message no longer appears:
http://www.asus.com/fr/supportonly/FancyStart/HelpDesk_Download/

(To know which driver to download, it's indicated in the error message in the bottom bar)
