Hello everyone,
I have a wifi problem. I have a Sony Vaio and a Sagem Livebox. The Sony PC is one that I retrieved, it belonged to my father. Until today, everything was fine, my wifi connection was working very well.
But the day before yesterday, I downloaded a suspicious file that probably contained a virus because after that, my internet was crawling like never before, and I got several infection messages and threats that my antivirus was trying to handle as best as it could.
Anyway, last night I decided to restore the PC (I had been intending to do this for a while, but with this event, I decided to do it sooner than planned).
The restoration went well, except that now my wifi connection does not work anymore. Previously, when I connected via wifi, it didn't even ask for the security key. Today, not only does it ask for it, but even entering the correct key, it says it is not recognized, even though it is the correct key that is written on my Livebox. I have tried 30 times, I made sure not to confuse letters and numbers. I have tried it with spaces, without spaces, in short all combinations! I don't understand why... However, my connection works perfectly when I connect the cable directly to my Livebox.
Is it possible that my security key has been hacked? Is it something else? I don't know much about it to be honest, that's why I'm reaching out to you.
Thank you in advance, I look forward to your response.

Hello
Try this:
Connect via Ethernet (cable), log into the box's interface and copy-paste the WIFI key into a text file, then unplug the cable and try to connect via WIFI by pasting the key again???
Otherwise, are you following the procedure to connect??? Pressing I don't remember which button before trying to connect via WIFI??
Last hypothesis, is MAC filtering enabled on the box??? Maybe you should disable it (and restart the box) and try to connect again??
Otherwise, to be sure, what do you mean by restore??? A restore point (not effective against an infection) or a factory reset??
