Acer PC stuck on startup screen

Hello,

My Acer Aspire V3-571G laptop won't start anymore. It gets stuck on the startup screen (black background with Acer logo "explore beyond limits").

After several attempts and long minutes of waiting (plus, I don't have a recovery CD), I decided to tap F2 to open the boot menu (sorry, I'm not quite sure what it's called). In the BOOT section, I noticed that nothing was displayed next to the HDD:

Is this why my PC refuses to start? Does it mean my hard drive is dead?
Is there a solution or a way to repair it? Because I'm really bummed out right now. :(

Thank you very much for your help

Configuration: Windows Vista / Chrome 38.0.2125.101

I think your hard drive is dead, so you'll need to replace it and reinstall Windows. I had the same issue, feel free to provide more details ;)

P.S.: Acer is not a good reference, they have a lot of technical and security problems.

Thank you for your response. So, to change it, I have to take it to a repair shop? I don't know much about it, but it's going to cost me a lot, isn't it?

I tried, but unfortunately I don't have the "D2D RECOVERY" that they mention in my BIOS.
