Hello,
I have an Acer 5720Z and the screen has turned gray on startup, I'm not sure why.
I reformatted everything and still have the same problem, I switched to Windows 7 and still the same issue.
The laptop works fine on an external screen, it’s only the built-in screen that doesn’t turn on.
I have already installed all the drivers but it hasn’t changed anything, does anyone have an idea???
Best regards
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8.0

No, it is not white; it has white stripes, but it lights up and doesn’t freeze. When I connect it to the external screen, it runs perfectly.
Hello,
I have exactly the same problem on the same laptop.
Has your issue been resolved?
I think it must be a map problem, but before taking everything apart, I wanted to know if there was another solution.

Personally, I think the screen is dead
If you want to change it, it will cost you more than buying a PC, and it's better to choose good brands like Asus and Toshiba, but preferably Asus.

No, I'm not going to change the screen, I'm just going to check the connections (I had the same problem on an HP).
Well, I went ahead and performed open-heart surgery on it...
...
The result is clear! Everything works like before (the only change is that I have an external screen instead of that damn gray screen!)
I can't understand how to connect the ribbon cable; there's plastic all around it!
I applied various pressures all over, but no luck, yet I'm convinced that the screen isn't dead!
My advice, do like me, quickly send an email to your Director saying that your laptop has kicked the bucket!
Sorry, that's all I can do for you (and especially for me!)
Good luck!
As far as I'm concerned, the matter is closed; if anyone can shed some light for us, we're open to it.
