Hello,

It's been over 3 hours since my PC update got stuck at 67% (I’m on Windows 8)

It’s an automatic update, the screen is all blue, and it says "installing update 67% complete, do not turn off the computer"

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Configuration: iPhone / Chrome 30.0.1599.82

Good evening, some people will tell you to suddenly turn off the computer by holding down the POWER button for a few seconds.

Be careful with this maneuver, interrupting a system update pack is not highly recommended do not turn off the computer this message is not there for nothing.

Some have crashed their PCs by forcing them to shut down.

Also, three hours is nothing, Windows 8 sometimes asks for 24 hours nonstop.

1° Laptop, avoid power management in battery mode for safety, choose the AC mode
2° WIFI connection with the Microsoft Windows Update platform
Place the PC very close to the router to facilitate exchanges, the ETHERNET connection is much more practical, direct exchange without interference
3° WIFI attitude in the house, examples include smartphones, tablets, televisions that use up the WIFI, the neighbors who also use up the WIFI, not very practical for updating WIN8

4° Windows updates can be very long, why?

5° W.U platform universal time synchronization with the PC which also must have identical internet time "Time.Windows.Com" in the clock and date settings.

a time zone difference with the platform causes installation problems for its updates
6° Hard drive saturation, if the hard drive is full, Windows Update will struggle to install its update packs

7° Accumulation of these updates in the system's cache, therefore the administrator refuses the updates offered by W.U, I know they come unexpectedly, it interrupts surfing, entertainment, work, social network discussions or forums, etc. etc.
Normally, close all running programs and then be a gentleman, update Windows, in short, do not disappoint it, or you risk receiving error codes later.
Windows up to date = performance and security up to date

The administrator postpones deadlines, the System isn't worried, it has enough memory to store postponed data.
The admin logs off as usual, badaboom the System takes over the shutdown, and then what does it do? Releases a torrent of updates previously rejected.

      Thank you for your response.

      24 hours!!

My computer is a mini PC, usually updates take a maximum of 20 minutes.

      It's still at 67%...

    Hello,

This morning, there was no battery left, when I powered on my PC again, there was no more problem XD, which shows that sometimes in IT, all you need is to be patient.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

    Have a great day.
