Hello,
I recently bought a WD 3TB external hard drive (formatted NTFS, USB SS), but my BD player doesn't recognize it, even though the hard drive lights up (so it is "aware" it is plugged into something).
I also have another 2TB external hard drive (formatted NTFS) that is recognized by the BD player.
Does anyone have any ideas to solve this problem?

re,
It is possible that your reader only accepts LINUX formats...EXT2 EXT3 EXT4 because Windows formats are not open source.

Thank you both for your responses.
Sannin_WD:
My Western Digital My Book Essential 3TB is recognized by my computer.
The cables connecting the BD drive to the external hard drives are not the same as one is an SS USB and the other is not.
The USB port on the BD drive is USB 1.1/2.0
The USB output of my 2TB external hard drive is also USB 1.1/2.0
The output of the 3TB external hard drive is USB 2.0/3.0
The USB input of my computer is USB 2.0
Your idea about capacity overflow is interesting; I will look into it and keep you updated.

Well, the partitioning is a success :)
However, I wanted to create two partitions of 1.5 TB, but it created 3, including 2 of 750 GB.
I activated one, but nothing works for the second one; it doesn’t want to, apparently I need to convert the hard drive to GPT.
But that's another story :)
Thank you very much for your help!!!

Hi stevedeutt,
I agree with jeannets. Their hypothesis is quite reasonable.
Is your Western Digital My Book Essential 3 TB recognized by a computer? Is the USB cable you’re using to connect it to the BD-D5300 the same one you use to connect the Western Digital WD Elements Desktop 2 TB?
I dug a bit into the documentation for the player (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201202/20120202162057150/02073A-BD-D5300-ZN.pdf ) and the player supports FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS file systems, the latter being the format of the external hard drive as well.
If your WD My Book Essential 3 TB is recognized by a computer and shows no suspicious behavior, it would be good to look for the reason elsewhere. In that case, a potential cause could be a limitation in the player for hard drives exceeding a certain capacity, which would explain its inability to recognize them. Normally, if that's the case, the manufacturer could provide you with the necessary information.
Keep us informed,
