Hello,
Our Samsung 150cm TV wall mount has failed... As a result: destroyed coffee table and cracked TV screen!
We had considered during the inventory of our apartment asking if we could hang a big TV on the wall without risk, and the answer was yes. Great mounts and special anchors, checked! Now that we see the wall: 5mm drywall and polystyrene. Uh, actually, that was a no, right?!
Anyway, we are looking into how to file for insurance/warranties for this because at €1300 for the TV, it hurts! Possibly involving the liability insurance of a third party.
Otherwise, I’m afraid that under the warranty, it falls under the exception of "external damages" like lightning, shocks, etc... And for home insurance: how could that work?
Of course, for the wall, we’ll involve the real estate agency for repairs! On top of the VMC that needs to be repaired since installation in early March, we’ve got that bothering us...
Has anyone ever found themselves in the same situation as me? Any ideas on how to resolve this without having to pay full price for a new TV?
Thanks in advance to those who will respond!!!! :)

Hello
The installation of the mount in the wall is under the responsibility of the person doing it
So: you
A wall is still a wall, but depending on its composition, it can support certain loads or not
The method of fixing to be used also depends on its composition
As for what you've been told regarding the possibility of fixing to this wall: words fly away, writings remain
And even if it had been written down, it would not necessarily hold value: during the drilling of the holes you should have noticed the composition of the wall
It goes without saying that a lack of caution on your part will be pointed out in your case and that will be enough to leave all the costs to you
A good handyman or a pro would have indicated how to do it
I’m afraid the damages will remain your responsibility
I can only insist on the fact that a TV mount is installed by respecting the basic rules of fixing in a wall
Calling a professional guarantees a certain safety
Sorry for you
The only thing to do is to contact your insurer
The TV warranty will obviously not apply in your case
