Safe mode (recovery) but having issues with the controller

Hello, with my PS3 slim I managed to get into recovery mode. When I connect the controller to the PS3 using the USB cable it works, but when I press the PS button it doesn't work and it stays on the "connect your controller..." message.

Configuration: Windows 8 / Chrome 35.0.1916.153

    Normally, there is a tiny hole at the back of the controller just next to the screw; try sticking a nail or something thin and rigid in it to press the button just below. This will reset your controller. If you don't have anything to do that, open the controller and press directly on the small rectangular white button at the back.
