Microsoft Account Issue, what do you suggest?

Hello
I will attempt to explain the problem I am encountering so that you can advise me on how to proceed.
When I bought my laptop last August, I installed Windows 8 and the Mail app, etc., with a Microsoft account (as Windows requires at the beginning of the installation). I chose an Orange email address that I already had and was using. However, I often have issues with error return messages with this address; apparently, there is a conflict with this address and the Microsoft account. So I decided once and for all to delete this Orange address, as on top of that, I receive tons of unwanted ads. But before deleting it, I am trying to change the address of my Microsoft account without affecting my activities with the PC, like the Windows Store, Mail app, etc., but is this possible???? I would like to change my Microsoft login address while keeping the same password.
I have tried to manage on my own, but it remains confusing for me between account, address, alias, etc. Yesterday I created another address online, rather an alias (from the account settings online), it’s so confusing for me!!! Then Windows gives me the option to delete the first alias, which sounds interesting, but when I delete it, I lose all my Mail app configuration! :-(
So how should I proceed to have another account address and permanently delete the one that bothers me? Is it possible? Or what do you advise?
I am the only one on the PC and thus the sole administrator.
Thank you, hoping you understood my babble

    Hi

What I would do is go to the mail app/settings/accounts/add an account, create a new account with a new password, and then delete the old one.
Then, if you want, you can always change the new password back to the old one.

However, what I don't quite understand is when you say you might lose all your mail app settings...?

    Hello
Do you mean creating a new Orange account to replace the one I want to delete? Or adding a Microsoft account?
If I delete the Orange address, I'm afraid I'll lose the configuration of the mail application since the Microsoft account I first created is linked to the Orange account I want to delete.

My brain is fried because I can't figure out the difference between accounts, addresses, Microsoft accounts, etc.... it's a jungle in my mind....

    Thank you for your help

    Thank you Lacharpente

I watched the tutorial, thank you.
What is the difference between a local account and a Microsoft account?
To create a local account, do I need to create a new address or insert an already existing email address?
Will I still have access to the applications installed via the Windows Store? Will I still be the administrator?
    This is confusing for me.

And if I added an Outlook account via email settings and then deleted the first account created, the one with the Orange address, also via email settings, which I no longer want?

    Thank you

With a local account, you no longer need an email address to log into your PC.
You still have access to everything you currently have, and you will always have your Administrator rights.
To understand, first you need to not mix everything up; you were not required to use one of the email addresses you previously used for your emails.
You could always create a new email address and not use it, except for logging into your W8.
The advantage of having this Microsoft account is that you can log in with these credentials on any other PC running W8 and access your data, if you had uploaded it to the Cloud (Online storage space).
By switching to a local account, you just need a username, like on the older Windows versions. (And a password if you want one)
Then, when you are on your local account, you can do whatever you like with your email accounts, whether deleting them or creating new ones, just like in the email programs of older Windows.

Here's the issue: I didn't know I wasn't required to use an email address that I used before :-(
With a local account, could I list all my email addresses (Gmail, La Poste, Orange) there?
I just realized that I'm really having problems with this account created using the same Orange address; I'm not even receiving my messages in the Mail app :-(((( except for Gmail. I'm not receiving any messages from Orange :-(.
I'm afraid to make changes for fear of causing chaos, but I'm going to have to go through this because it's a mess; the problem is that I'm not tech-savvy enough :-(
Thanks for your help anyway, that's nice. Before creating a local account, do I have to delete my two Microsoft accounts? And all the addresses via the Mail app?

Do not delete anything for now, just switch to the local account.
Then, we will need to check what happens in Mail, with all your email accounts.
For Orange, you can still go to the web page with your browser to see if your emails are arriving properly.

      Hello
Yes, with Orange, my messages arrive fine. I don't understand what's happening with the mail app. I also noticed that when I send messages via the mail app, they arrive at their destination every other time. It's strange. If I uncheck "inbox" in the mail app settings, I have each account appearing in the right column. Will it be the same with a local account? And what will happen to the Windows Store?
      Thank you
