Can my pc run without windows?

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to use a PC without installing Windows on it because my old PC is no longer useful to me, and I would like to reformat it to install games like The Sims, etc. Is it possible to download these games without having Windows on the PC?     you need at least an OS to run a machine, for example Windows, Linux
