Here, I found something that might give you an idea (I copied and pasted it from another forum)
Hello, I worked for some time in a bailiff's office as an "amicable" collection officer harassing people as you are being.

There are companies like "DSO" that buy debts from Orange and other companies (Axa, Neuf, Numericable, SFR...). Orange will never go to court to recover a debt; it would cost them way too much. They have another technique, they change bailiffs "amicably" every year until one manages to trick you into paying something you no longer owe.

So don't worry. A little advice, if you want peace, tell them that you have always disputed the bill and that you are not opposed to paying, but that you want the detailed bill first. And they... will be unable to provide it to you.

Another thing, after a year (prescription), send them away. You don't owe anything anymore. To pressure you a bit, they will talk to you about getting delisted from the registry as soon as you settle the debt. On this point, they are right, but for your information, being listed lasts 2 years if you have a single unpaid line and 5 years if you have two. You just need to be patient... ^^

In parentheses, it is absolutely not illegal for a collection agency to demand a prescribed debt; it's just up to you to refuse to pay it.

I hope I have shed some light on this for you, and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

      Hello

He has been bothering me for 3 weeks with a so-called debt dating back to 2006 with Francefinance, but I don't know this company and I've had nothing to do with them. Do you think it's a scam? Best regards.

Hello, Franfinance is the Société Générale if that can help you; it's the consumer loans that are contracted in-store...
They are harassing us for a debt that dates back to 1999... which they have increased from 1200 to 3500...

Me too, for several weeks they have been sending me letters regarding a billing dispute from 2006, which was defended by the claims department of my insurance! And everything has been settled since then, given that it was an abuse (scandal in the newspapers and on TV).

Not a 'scam' but perhaps a mistake, an unfortunate homonymy, an identity theft.. Between us, this I.J is not always on point..

      See you!
