RAM Memory Issue (16 GB installed 12 GB usable)

Hello, sorry if the question has already been asked, but I didn't understand the other posts so I'm turning to you. I just noticed while configuring After Effects that I only have 12 GB of RAM available out of 16 GB installed.

Indeed, in the BIOS, all my RAM is detected 'Total Memory: 16384MB' and all 4 memory slots are recognized.

Windows is telling me 16 GB installed (12 GB usable)

The problem is recent (I've always had 16 GB of RAM available) and I don't understand why this limitation came out of nowhere.

My configuration

- Motherboard: 990 FX Extreme 4 P1.50
- RAM: 4X4 GB Corsair
- CPU: Amd FX 8120 8 Core 3.10 GHz

Looking forward to your response.

    Hi

In general, Windows is to blame. But that's just its "normal" operation; Windows indeed reserves memory addresses for peripherals.
Either it's been this way since installation and you didn't notice it, or you later installed expansion cards (other than the graphics card) and Windows shifted the memory addressing, rendering part of it unusable. Or your Windows is unofficial...

There's not really a solution to fix the problem (which isn't really a problem). Reinstalling Windows often allows you to reuse what's been marked as unusable, but that's not guaranteed.
