Delete automatically saved addresses on my computer

Question

Good evening, Would someone be so kind as to explain how to get rid of addresses that appear when I type the first letters of another address? They also appear on iPhoto when I do "share via email." They are not in my address book. I tried fn+alt + delete as suggested in a response, but it doesn't work.  Thank you  Michelle

Hello  There is an option in Mail that activates this function: menu "Preferences -> Composing -> Addressing: complete addresses automatically." Turn off this option.  Then try this (I'm quoting from memory as I'm not on a Mac right now): Windows menu, Previous Recipients item and discard what you no longer want.  Ritchi

Hello,  To find out the version of an application, you have several solutions. Let's take iPhoto as an example: Method 1: Click on the background of the screen to be in Finder. Open the menu "File -> New Finder Window". Open the Applications folder and search for the iPhoto application icon. Right-click on its icon and choose the menu "Get Info". A window will pop up displaying the information related to the iPhoto application.  Method 2: This applies if the iPhoto application is in your Dock (the bar often at the bottom of the screen containing icons of your favorite applications), Right-click on the iPhoto icon and choose the menu "Options -> Show in Finder". A Finder window will open and the iPhoto icon will be selected. Right-click on the iPhoto icon and choose the menu "Get Info". A window will pop up displaying the information related to the iPhoto application.  Method 3: Launch the iPhoto application Open the menu "iPhoto -> About iPhoto" A window will pop up displaying the information related to the iPhoto application.   Let's get back to your email address issue. Personally, I have iPhoto'09 v8.1.2 and Mac OS X 10.9.2. When I decide to send a photo via email from iPhoto, here's what I do: I click on the photo(s) I want to send. I choose the menu "Share -> Mail" or I click directly on the "Mail" icon at the bottom right. A window like this opens:  When I click on "Compose Message", the Mail application launches and a new email composition window opens with the subject of the email being the name of my photo. When I click to add a recipient, and start typing an email address, Mail's auto-completion (see my response from March 5th at 10:25 PM) suggests addresses from my address book. Hello,  We need to do what Ritchi suggested earlier, namely:  Open Mail, in the Mail menu bar, choose Window / Previous Recipients...  In the window that opens, select all the recipients (click in the window + cmd A), and delete them all from the list.  The system always relies on both the address book and this list of previous recipients.  See you later  -- Have a good day, or good night..:). Francis

Hello,  Here is your screenshot:  So, what we can see is that you typed the letter f and a list of suggestions appeared. This list suggests all email addresses containing the letter f (regardless of its position in the email address). These addresses are searched in your address book (which is its purpose) but also in the history of your previous emails.  You need to do what I proposed at the very beginning of our conversation: In Mail, open the menu "Window -> Previous Recipients":  You can then perform one of the following actions: To sort the list: Click on a column header.  To search for a name: Enter the name in the search field.  To display the profile of a recipient in Contacts: Double-click on the recipient's name (a profile icon precedes the name if the person is saved in Contacts).  To add recipients to Contacts: Select their name, then click on "Add to Contacts".  To remove recipients from the list: Select their name, then click on "Remove from List". This option is useful if you previously entered an address incorrectly and want Mail to stop suggesting it.  Ritchi

Hello,  In iPhoto'11, there is a setting that lets you choose the application that will send photos via email: by default, it is ... iPhoto. If you prefer the Mail application to send your emails, then from iPhoto, open the menu "iPhoto -> Preferences" and in the "General" section, change the last setting to select Mail or any other mail client available on your Mac, like Outlook if Microsoft Office is installed.  Will this perhaps change something?  Ritchi
