    Hi,
    it's not a message indicator, it's a call log indicator.
    It flashes in case of a missed call, as long as the call log has not been checked.

    thanks for the info, but it doesn't tell me how to turn off that darn blinker!!
    How do I check the call log?

      I suppose by pressing this flashing button, then using the arrows to scroll up the list.
      There should also be an option to delete this call list, it must be in the manual.

    Well... on my mobiles (model 420, I think?!) when I press the famous flashing button, I can choose between messages and calls, I look at both and then it stops flashing... try it...

    I also have an AS 285 and to eliminate a flashing triggered by the presence of missed calls, you just need to press ok and then go to the next one using the down arrow, etc. etc.
    However, be careful:
    the Phone Log can be set to record either all calls or only missed calls.

    In the first case, you need to reset (clear) the log as soon as you receive a call, whether you answered it or not.

    The procedure is the same.
