Hello,
I’m following up on the subject of my scanner that won’t work ...
Despite numerous attempts to get my scanner to work, I apparently can't find the right driver ... and I really don't know where else to look. I downloaded the CanoScan Toolbox from Canon's website here:
https://www.canon.fr/support/consumer_products/products/scanners/lide_series/canoscan_lide_60.html
and then I tried this: https://www.canon-europe.com/support/business-product-support/
... and when I launch Easy-Scan, my computer shows me this:
http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/811775scan.jpg
And I want to clarify: it is neither disconnected nor turned off ..
Thanks if anyone can help
have a good PM

Hello,
What operating system do you have on the PC?
Was the scanner connected when you installed the driver?
Best regards.

Hello glg29 and thank you,
I have Windows 7... yes, the scanner was connected during the installation
do you think that's why it's not working?

Re leam451,
In principle, when installing a device, generally the driver comes first before the connection.
That doesn't mean the installation was done incorrectly, but it doesn't work! Personally, I advise you to uninstall all drivers/software related to this scanner, leaving no trace on the PC, and then restart it.
Please respond to this first:
Is your Windows 7 32 or 64 bit?
To find out, Start, right-click on Computer, Properties, it’s noted on the System type line.

Hello again,
Alright ... actually, I've already uninstalled everything, now there's only a log left called "Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner." I'm not sure if I can get rid of it too, but I don't think it's part of the installations I made.
My Windows is 64-bit version.

Hello leam451,
Try uninstalling it with RevoUninstaller maybe!
Check out this LINK regarding how to use the software.
To increase the chances of being able to uninstall it, restart your computer in safe mode, this way, only the essential files for startup are loaded and the software you want to uninstall will not be launched, which increases the possibilities of eliminating it.
To start in safe mode, this LINK explains it to you.

Very well, we're making slow progress; let's hope it will surely be!
Indeed, you can keep RevoUninstaller tucked away on your PC, just in case!
I assume the old installation traces of the scanner are also forgotten?
I also advise you, before we continue, to perform a system update via Windows Update, if you haven't done so already.
Start, Control Panel, Windows Update, in the vertical menus on the left of the page click on Check for updates. If it finds any, please apply them right away; I am referring to critical updates primarily, while for optional updates, you can check what they're about and decide for yourself whether to install them or not.
See you later!

Hello Glg29,
Sorry for my late response but I was busy removing a mess that clearly had no place in my active processes; anyway, my computer is all clean now, and I've installed all the updates + rebooted. I'm waiting for your instructions for the next steps ^^

PS: Yes, I also uninstalled all the residual traces of the drivers that didn't work, and now I haven't found anything related to the scanner.
Hello leam451,
Very good for the updates.
In principle, it's this DRIVER that you need to install, beforehand, the scanner must be disconnected from the PC.
You will proceed with the installation and report back the information, please.
You will connect the scanner during the installation when the procedure specifies it, or at the end of it.

Hello glg29,
I have reinstalled this driver, but the installation process never specified to reconnect the scanner. I restarted at the end, as it requested, and then I plugged it in. I tried to scan something through CanoScan Toolbox, but I didn't quite understand why it asks me to specify a program when I click on "scan" after clicking on the scan-1 tab. I ended up setting the path to EasyScan, but I keep getting the same message "cannot communicate... blabla ... and "driver will be closed", so close it then! ... I don't know what mistake I'm making.
If not, I can also describe the installation process to you: After downloading, I follow the instructions until it asks me to extract the files with 7zip. I unzip, and then I have a folder (named s7119FRx) in which I have a folder and a *.exe (the latter being zipped, and if I unzip it, nothing happens). The other folders: one named Canon and the other named s7119FRx. In the "Canon" (like in the other), I have subfolders from Disk1 to Disk5, in the first one I launch the Setup and then I have the installation of the Toolbox.
There you go, it seems a bit complicated as a process... I suspect there is something wrong but I don't really know how to approach it otherwise! And I don't understand the mistake I'm making...
... let me know if you have any ideas..
And thanks, sorry for the long message,
Leam

Your second image is displaying correctly, the first one is not!
I will download the driver and see exactly what it's about, I don't own a Canon but by extracting the files I will probably find out a bit more!
The software seems to be installed, according to your second image, in this one I see near the eye, external program and Set....., if you click there what do you get?
You have a trial version of software at this LINK, maybe you can try it out, if only to confirm or deny the functioning of the scanner for example.

Good evening,
For the first image, here it is: http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/811775scan.jpg (it wasn't working because of the parenthesis)
If I click on "define", the EasyScan folder opens. If I reset and click on "scan", I get a tooltip that says "Allows you to specify the destination program for the scanned image" - it seemed logical to put EasyScan there. And so, with EasyScan, I get the same tooltip (above) if I click on Scan.
Well... I’m going to test your software, I’ll keep you posted.
Thank you! Have a good evening, maybe talk to you later,
Leam

You unplug and restart the computer, test it with this driver without uninstalling the first one, the link HERE.
Please connect if it prompts or at the end of the installation.
I’m going to have dinner now and will come back later......

Always the same response - reboot, install, change cable, then "no scanner is connected to your computer"... I'm starting to think it's a karma issue :))
I don't know if there are still any solutions, but if you have any other ideas... if not, too bad. The scanner was working a few weeks ago on another computer (which I no longer have). And I don't remember mistreating this device... -_-

Your image is very good, in parentheses!
I would ask you to try a manual installation of this driver, but I don't know what that might yield!
The file you downloaded is named lide60vst6411111a_64fr, it's an executable, if you double click on it, the installation begins.
However, if you expand it, you will find a .inf file that is used for the manual installation, this file is named CNQL60.inf
To expand it, you first need to unzip lide60vst6411111a_64fr with 7Zip, which you can find on this PAGE.
Once 7Zip is installed, right-click on lide60vst6411111a_64fr, select 7Zip, then Extract to...., it will suggest a path with the same name, confirm without changing anything.
On this file, right-click and Open (twice), a page will then offer a text document and a SetupSG application, right-click on the latter, select 7Zip, then Open.
The page will show the CNQL60.inf file, that's the one to be used for the manual installation.
We might try, I'll explain the procedure in the next message, which will partly reiterate what I just developed.

Hello leam451,
Manual installation
In the device manager.
Right-click on CanoScan Lide60
Update driver
No, not this time, next
Install from a list or specific location, next
Include this location in the search
Browse
Go to your Downloads
Go to the unzipped driver folder, lide60vst6411111a_64fr
Click Open twice
Right-click on SetupSG, select 7Zip, then Open
Select the file CNQL60.INF
Next, etc...
Restart.
Cannot guarantee this will work, but always give it a try!

Hi,
I did what you told me - it didn't change anything so I got rid of everything, including the software and the driver - and I installed VueScan but the 64-bit version (apparently you linked me to a previous version) but now the message has disappeared - only there still nothing shows up when I click on "preview" or "scan." Maybe I just don't know how to use it... but at least the connection missing message is gone ^^
