Good evening,

my underage son received a summons from the police service that is not from our municipality (GAJ service) and they do not want to give me the reason for this summons until after they have interviewed my son, and the date of the summons is set for December 30th.
Can someone tell me what GAJ service means?
Thank you in advance, I'm stressed.

There is absolutely no point in panicking. They are not allowed to disclose the reason over the phone; if you want, you can either go ask them with the summons (if they are willing to respond with anything other than "you'll see on the day of the summons"), or you can wait until the day itself.

Your son may have done something wrong, but it could simply be to question him as a witness or a friend of someone they are investigating.

I didn't know the GAJ, but I have been summoned before; it feels strange to receive such a notice, but in fact, it was to ask me questions about my former employer (who was accusing the employee who took my place after me) regarding a check theft within the company.

So nothing serious, at least for me.

    Don't panic.

In any case, he is a minor; either he did nothing, or he did something silly, and at worst, he has a record, which is not terrible but bothersome when you want to pursue certain careers, or there's some trouble and it's mom and dad who pay the consequences.

Ask your son; that's the first point to clarify.

The GAJ is both a complaints service and an investigations service. The cases it handles are diverse and varied: financial investigations, violence, thefts, frauds, etc. It is made up of police officers of all ranks who hold the position of judicial police officer or agent.
