RAM Split in Half.

Hello!
I'm facing a problem with my PC equipped with an MSI motherboard (Z77A-G43). It turns out that the storage space of my two DDR3 RAM sticks is halved! Each of my sticks can support 4GB, but my PC is reducing them to 2GB each. I've done several searches, and the processor (i5-2300 at 2.8GHz) can support them, and so can the motherboard (it can hold 8GB per slot and 32GB total). I'm really lost here. I've tried checking all over the BIOS, overclocked everything a bit, changed the position of my sticks 40 times, but no luck..
Thanks in advance!

Does your BIOS detect the 8GB?

And if not, what OS do you have?

It's a 32-bit OS for sure
to take advantage of 4, 8, or even 16 Gigs, you need to install a 64-bit Windows.
... but that may not be the cause...

Wait, do you want to be able to use your 8GB with your 32Bit OS?
Download a 64Bit version and then we'll see :D

And you haven't answered, does your BIOS detect the 8GB or not?

I wasn't looking at the post.
My BIOS detects both sticks but says there are only 2GB each, which is false. And I have a 64-bit OS, Windows 7.

So, I was wrong about the Windows story. Sorry.
Unless there is a failure in both memory sticks, I would say they are simply not 100% compatible with your motherboard.
Or maybe one of them is malfunctioning.
If you haven't tried, what happens when you only use one of them? And the other?

Tablet mode ON.
I'm going to try exactly with a stick, and I can assure you that both sticks are intact (they work perfectly, 4GB each on another PC).
And they are indeed compatible, believe me, I spent 2 hours checking and rechecking all of this.

Hello

Thank you for posting screenshots of the "memory" and "SPD" tabs from CPUZ.

Yeah, indeed, on paper your card has 4 slots that can each take 8 GB (= 32 GB total)
Is it DDR3, your sticks?
Of one of these types:
DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2133*/2400*/2667*?
Lastly, what brand are they?

So here it is, the end of the story, your memory sticks are indeed 2 GB:
It's a kit of 2x2 GB
